NIA files chargesheet against 5 Khalistani terrorists in connection with the dropping of arms in Punjab

The investigation revealed that the charge-sheeted accused had smuggled illegal consignments of arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics across the Indo-Pak border to carry out terror activities in India.

The NIA on Friday filed a chargesheet in a special court here against five Khalistani terrorists, including the head of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation, in a case related to smuggling of arms, explosives and narcotics from Pakistan through drones, an official said.

A spokesperson of the National Investigation Agency said that the chargesheet was filed against ISYF chief Lakhbir Singh Rode alias “Baba” of Moga (Punjab) hiding in Pakistan and four of his arrested associates – Harmesh Singh alias “Kali”. Village Ferozepur, Darvesh Singh alias “Shinda” of Banke Wale slum, Gurmukh Singh of New Hardyal Nagar, Jalandhar and Gagandeep Singh of Guru Nanakpura, Phagwara-Kapurthala.

The NIA said the case was initially registered on August 25, 2021 at Mamdot police station in Ferozepur, and later on November 6, 2021 by the agency under various sections of the Arms Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Explosives Act re-registered. and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The spokesman said that the investigation revealed that the charge-sheeted accused had smuggled illegal consignments of arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics across the Indo-Pak border to carry out terror activities in India. The NIA said that these illegal consignments were sent by Rode and his associates from Pakistan through drones.

“These consignments were received by the co-accused and given to other accused persons involved in conspiracy to carry out subversive activities in India,” the spokesperson said. The spokesman said that incriminating evidence has been found against all the charge-sheeted accused. The NIA said that so far five accused have been arrested in this case, while Rode is absconding. Further investigation is on in the matter.
