The Health Ministry informed on Friday that the third dose of the corona vaccine will be administered from Sunday. The Ministry of Health has named it the Precaution Dose. All persons above the age of 18 years will be able to get vaccination doses from April 10 at private vaccination centers. This prescription dose is for adults above 18 years of age and who have completed 9 months of the second dose. Precautions for health workers, front line workers and 60+ population will be provided through free vaccination program. Whereas people below 60 years of age will have to pay its price.

Covishield will cost Rs 600
Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla informed that the cost of Kovishield will be Rs 600. Tax will also be levied on it, after which its price will be different. Poonawalla said that when Kovavax is recognized as a booster dose, it will cost Rs 900 plus tax.

According to the Ministry of Health, till now, about 96% of all 15+ population in the country have taken a single dose of COVID-19. While 83% people have been given both doses. More than 2.4 crore booster doses have also been given to health workers, frontline workers and 60+ age groups. 45% of people in the age group of 12 to 14 years have also taken the first dose.

Why Precaution Dose is needed in India
The vaccine dose is the third dose of the same vaccination given against SARS-CoV-2 infection. The need for this dose was felt after the arrival of a new variant of Kovid-19 across the world. A gap of 9 months was recommended between the second and third doses, but the government is yet to take a decision on the matter. After which only one booster dose vaccine will be administered as the third dose. India started giving booster doses to frontline workers and 60+ citizens with comorbidities on 10th January this year.
