Newly elected BJP MLA from Puducherry meets PM Narendra Modi

All the six newly elected BJP MLAs, three nominated members of the party and three independent MLAs met the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday. Former Industries Minister A Namasviyam, who was part of the delegation, said it was only a courtesy call. BJP’s Puducherry unit president V Saminathan accompanied the delegation, which also held discussions with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.

A BJP source said here that the MLAs urged the Prime Minister to expedite the approval of development projects for the Union Territory. The NDA government led by AINRC has ministers from AINRC and BJP. The ministry here has six members including the chief minister. While Rangasamy took oath as the chief minister on May 7, the other five ministers (three belonging to AINRC and two from the BJP) took oath on June 27. However, the allocation of portfolios to the ministers is yet to be decided.

Meanwhile, PM Modi tweeted a picture of the meeting and said that they discussed Puducherry’s development efforts.

“Met a delegation of MLAs from Puducherry. Discussed various efforts for the all-round development of Puducherry,” the PM wrote.
