New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 10th installment of financial benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on Saturday on the occasion of New Year 2022.
According to an official statement from the PMO, the PM will release the amount in a virtual event starting at 12:30 pm today.
According to the official press release, the move is in line with the government’s continued commitment and resolve to empower the grassroots farmers.
The PMO said that this would enable transfer of more than Rs 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal four-monthly installments of Rs 2,000 each. Funds are directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
So far, respect amount of more than 1.6 lakh crore rupees has been transferred to the farmer families under this scheme.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will also release equity grants of over Rs 14 crore to around 351 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), benefiting over 1.24 lakh farmers.
During the program, the Prime Minister will interact with the FPOs and will also address the nation.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will also be present on this occasion.
