New Mafia game on its way, confirms studio – Times of India

It has been two decades since the first Mafia game, and Hangar 13, studio behind the action-adventure game, confirmed that the development on the next game in the series has begun.
The news comes from Roman Hladík, General Manager at Hangar 13, who confirmed the development of an “all-new” Mafia game in an interview taking us through the development of the Mafia franchise. Hladík said, “I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project!”.
While the new title is confirmed, we still do not know what it will be called. There were rumours of “Mafia 4” under development, but we are not sure whether it will be called the same or will be known otherwise.
“While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories,” he further added. The next Mafia game still seems to be in early stages of development, as implied by Hladík, so do not expect it to come out soon.
The studio did not share much details about the games but if we are to believe rumours, the next Mafia game, allegedly the Mafia 4, will be a prequel to the first title, with Don Salieri being the main character. If this turns out to be true, we can expect the game to be set in the late 1980’s.
However, the studio has not confirmed any of this, so we suggest taking this with a pinch of sal
In related news, the original Mafia will be available for free on Steam from September 1st to 6th. Meanwhile, Mafia: Definitive Edition is also up for grab at 65% discount till September 7th.
