New financial scheme launched by Delhi Chief Minister for Kovid victims

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched ‘Mukhyamantri COVID-19 Family Financial Assistance Scheme’ and an online portal aimed at providing financial assistance to families who have lost their loved ones to COVID-19. While making the announcement, he emphasized that those who are working for this scheme should not pressurize the family by blaming them and should tell that if they do not have any specific document then they are eligible for the scheme. are not.

Under the scheme, an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 will be given to each family that has lost a member to COVID-19 and an additional Rs 2,500 per month if the deceased was the sole breadwinner.

Speaking to the press, CM Kejriwal said that while India faced a second wave, Delhi witnessed a “fourth wave” during the month of April of COVID-19, which affected almost every family and caused many deaths. Gone.

He said, “Many children became orphans, many families lost their sole breadwinner. So as a responsible government, we envisioned this scheme.”

“We are starting a portal through which such people can apply for financial assistance. Our representatives will also visit such families and fill up the applications,” he said.

During the announcement, he said that such representatives would not reject the claims of the families in case of missing of any document and would instead facilitate the process by helping them get the required documents.

“I would like to ask all such representatives not to scrutinize the applications. If the families lack any documents, we will help them to get them. We have to make sure that we do that. Their documents Don’t find fault in me.. Kejriwal said, don’t make them sad, encourage them.

“We have to ensure that we provide financial assistance to such families at the earliest,” he said.

According to the notification issued from June 22 on ‘Chief Minister COVID-19 Family Financial Assistance Scheme’, “The government will also consider enrolling one member of the affected family as a civil defense volunteer. In addition, the state confirms to take care of the health and education needs of dependent children as per the existing policy.”

There is no income criteria to apply for financial assistance under the scheme. Children who have lost their parents or both of their parents to COVID-19 will also be provided Rs 2,500 per month till the age of 25 years. Kejriwal had earlier said that the Delhi government would also give him free education.

The notification said, “Both the deceased and dependent must be from Delhi… the death must be certified as a COVID-19 death or death, within one month of testing positive for Covid and the health department should be verified as a death of Covid.”

He had said on May 18, “There are many families where the earning member died due to COVID-19. Such families will be provided an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 in addition to a monthly pension of Rs 2,500.”
