New corona cases increased by 33% in 7 days: 15,747 new cases registered on the last day; Omicron’s BA.2 subvariant gets three new variants in the country

Corona cases are increasing day by day in the country. On Sunday, 15,747 new corona cases were registered in the country. During this 13,908 people defeated Corona, while 24 patients died. With this, the number of people who lost their lives due to corona in the country has gone up to 525,223.

Omicron gets three new variants
Three new and more infectious variants of Omicron’s BA.2 subvariant may be behind these rising cases. The BA.2.74, BA.2.75 and BA.2.76 variants have been recently identified. According to the senior scientist of the country’s SARS-Covid Genomics Consortium, they are more infectious than Omicron’s BA.5 variant.

In the last 10 days, 560 cases of all the three new variants have been found. These three variants are believed to be the reason for the current increase in corona cases. The BA.2.38 variant found with them in June is also the reason for the increase in cases.

Top 5 states with highest number of cases
The maximum number of cases of corona are being reported in six states of the country. These include Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Delhi. The maximum number of cases are coming from Kerala and Maharashtra. After Kerala-Maharashtra, in Tamil Nadu too, daily cases are coming above two thousand.

Most cases from Kerala
Kerala still remains at the top in the number of new infected. More than three thousand cases are being received here daily. Earlier on May 28, 2,999 new infected were found. Talking about the last 24 hours, 3,642 positive cases were found here, 3,611 patients were cured, while 9 infected lost their lives. A day earlier, the positivity rate in the state was 17.01%, which increased to 18.64%.

Positivity rate in Maharashtra is 8.04%
In the case of epidemic, Maharashtra still remains a hot-spot of Corona. There has not been much difference in the case here in the last 24 hours. But the positivity rate in the state has gone up to 8.04%. On Friday, 2962 new cases came here, 3,918 patients were cured. While 6 patients died.

Cases increasing continuously in Tamil Nadu
After Kerala-Maharashtra, the maximum number of cases are coming from Tamil Nadu. New cases increased by 5% in the last 24 hours. On Saturday, 2,672 new cases came here, 1487 patients were cured. The good thing is that no patient died here. The positivity rate here has remained above 7% for the last three days.
