New case against MD of Twitter India: FIR in Bulandshahr for showing wrong map of India; Second case registered in UP in a month

Another FIR has been registered against Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari in Uttar Pradesh. Bulandshahr This case has been registered for showing wrong map of India on Twitter’s website. However, seeing the controversy escalating, Twitter corrected its mistake on Monday. But in the map shown earlier, it had shown the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as separate from India.

A case has been registered against Manish Maheshwari in Bulandshahr, UP. In this case, a complaint was made on behalf of Bajrang Dal leader Praveen Bhati. This is the second FIR registered against Twitter in Uttar Pradesh this month amid the ongoing conflict over the new IT rules.

Earlier, Ghaziabad Police had sent a notice to Maheshwari on June 17 and summoned her to appear within 7 days. This case was related to assault and indecency with a Muslim elder. After the video of this incident went viral, an FIR was registered against 9 people including Maheshwari. All of them are accused of misrepresenting the incident and trying to give it a communal colour.

However, Maheshwari got relief from the Karnataka High Court last week in this matter. The court has stayed his arrest. It has also been said that Maheshwari living in Bangalore need not go to UP. If the UP Police wants to interrogate them, they can do it virtually.

Now UP government and Twitter face to face
The UP government has challenged this order of the Karnataka High Court in the Supreme Court. At the same time, Maheshwari has also filed a caveat in the Supreme Court saying that while listing the petition of the UP government, her side should also be heard.

Twitter blocked the handle of the IT minister last week
Twitter blocked the handle of IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for an hour on Friday morning. The reason for this was said that Prasad has violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of America. However, Twitter later reopened the handle of Ravi Shankar Prasad, giving a warning. There was also a conflict between the government and Twitter regarding this issue.
