Elon Musk’s Neuralink plans to introduce a vision chip within the next few years, aiming to address eye conditions leading to blindness. Musk shared this information on X, the social media platform he acquired, in response to a user’s account of a rare eye condition affecting a family member.
Neuralink, Musk’s neurotechnology company, has been working on implantable brain-computer interfaces for some time. As it has made its way to its first human trials, Neuralink has unveiled its v0.9 chip, designed to address various ailments, including quadriplegia resulting from spinal cord injury or ALS.
Having received approval to commence recruiting participants for the initial clinical trials in September, Neuralink may be nearing the start of testing for this chip. Additionally, the company aims to tackle other health issues in its future product developments, including vision-related concerns.
