Bhubaneswar: Orissa paid tribute to Netaji On the 125th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose on Sunday with a series of programs amid strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines. Janakinath Bhawan, the birthplace of Netaji ridgeThe Netaji Janmasthan Museum was now beautifully decorated on this occasion.
People thronged the museum to pay floral tributes to the great freedom fighter. Wreaths were laid on his statue and his ideologies were remembered by singing Ramdhun, To mark the day, a special exhibition of Netaji sculptures made of clay, wood and other materials by 15 artists was displayed by Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi.
Governor Ganeshi Lal paid humble tributes to the great leader on his birth anniversary.
“Netaji’s extraordinary grit and patriotism will continue to inspire generations of Indians,” he tweeted.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted, ‘I pay homage to the worthy son of Mother India and the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra on his birthday. The soil of Odisha inspired him to fight and serve the motherland. His strong leadership and unwavering patriotism will live on in everyone’s life.
Renowned sand sculptor Sudarshan Patnaik created a 7 foot sand replica of India Gate with Netaji at Puri beach.
Several student and youth organizations also paid tribute to Netaji at the museum in Cuttack and raised slogans like “Netaji is immortal”.
However, in view of the pandemic, the general audience was not allowed to visit the museum on Sundays.
For the people of Cuttack, this day is no less than a festival. Netaji, who spent his childhood in the streets of Cuttack, completed his schooling from Renshaw Collegiate School. We all feel very proud of the son of the soil,” said Pabitra Mohan Panda, a resident of Odia Bazar.
