Anurag Malu, a resident of Kishangarh, Rajasthan, went missing while descending from the third camp of Mount Annapurna and is missing since Monday.

A 34-year-old Indian climber went missing from Mount Annapurna in Nepal on Monday, an official of the expedition organizer said.

Mingma Sherpa, president of Seven Summit Treks, which is conducting the trekking expedition, told PTI that Anurag Malu, a resident of Kishangarh in Rajasthan, went missing while descending from the third camp of Mount Annapurna and has been missing since Monday morning.

According to the Himalayan Times newspaper, Malu is on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters and seven summits to create awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“We launched an extensive search for Malu shortly after he went missing. However, till evening we have not been able to trace him,” said the Sherpa.

“We will continue the search on Tuesday as well,” he added.

Local media reports said that Malu was awarded the Rex Karamveer Chakra and became the 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador from India.

Annapurna is the tenth highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,091 meters above sea level.

It is well known for the difficulty and danger involved in its ascent.
