New Delhi: National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 (negvac) and the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGIdeliberating and considering scientific evidence relating to vaccination of childrenThis was informed to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The Central Government is regularly reviewing the pace and coverage of COVID-19 vaccination and has issued several advisories to States and Union Territories to cover eligible beneficiaries with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar Said in written reply.
He said that the government has also launched the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign from November 3, wherein the missed beneficiaries for the first dose and the beneficiaries for the second dose are identified and immunized through door-to-door activities. .
Asked whether the government has any immediate proposal or policy to vaccinate persons below 18 years of age, Pawar said, “National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 and National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization are concerned.” The scientists are looking at the evidence and considering whether to vaccinate children under 18 years of age.”
