Coimbatore: After a failed attempt to secure MBBS seat one in government medical college Last year, T Radhakrishnan is now closer to his dream by securing 406 marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year.
The state government has assured to help them and district collector GS Samiran is scheduled to personally meet them on Sunday at their home at Athupollachi, which is about 12 km from Pollachi.
Radhakrishnan said his determination to give a dignified life to his disabled mother helped him clear NEET. his mother MahalakshmiA daily wage laborer, had worked hard to raise him and his younger brother. She said that her relatives had made fun of her a few years back when her father left them midway.
“Nobody in my family circle could have thought of becoming a doctor and that was also a reason for me to take NEET. I was expecting 380 marks, but I scored 406 marks. I am satisfied with my performance. But I will have to wait for counseling for the medical seat,” said Radhakrishnan, who belongs to Mudugad tribal community, said.
The Vari Medical Academy, a NEET and JEE training center in Saravanampatti, has offered to support Radhakrishnan with fees if he gets an MBBS seat. Radhakrishnan had taken NEET training for the last one year in this academy.
Dr P Lokesh, the founder of the coaching centre, said that he had not charged Radhakrishnan for the coaching, as he could not pay the fees. “We considered him because he was a brilliant candidate with the potential to crack the exam.”
