Several medical aspirants have filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of NEET PG 2023 by two to three months. The exam is currently to be held on March 5

The Supreme Court has not yet passed any order regarding the adjournment National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2023, The hearing has now been set for Monday, February 27. Several medical aspirants filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the exam by two to three months, citing insufficient time to prepare for the entrance exam as well as the long gap between NEET PG exam and counselling.

The top court has asked the NBE to furnish certain information and resolution of the matter, following which an order will be passed. As per the current schedule, the exam will be held on March 5 and the results will be declared by March 31. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had earlier announced that NEET PG will be conducted as per schedule and there will be no delay. ,

However, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has extended the internship deadline for NEET PG 2023 from June 31 to August 11, as per the notice. Because of this MCC is expected to start the counseling process in September. Candidates claim that this gap of five to six months will be harmful for them.

NEET-PG applicants claim that if the exam is held on the scheduled day, more than 10,000 applicants will be left out due to ineligibility to take the exam. In a letter to the Union health ministry, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) argued that extending the exam date would offer individuals currently completing their required internship time to study for the entrance exam.

The High Court has given two weeks time to NMC to file its reply. Commenting on the Telangana HC order, Dr Krishnan terming it as very neutral said, “We will proceed with the SC case. If the FMGE exam can be postponed 115 days in advance due to local elections, then NEET PG can be decided.” Should formally be postponed for a genuine reason.”
