NEET 2021 postponed, new dates to be announced soon

NTA further said that it will announce “soon” about NEET 2021, including the date of commencement of online application and the conduct of examination. As a general practice, application forms are open for at least 60 days. This not only gives time to the students to fill the form but also gives time to the organizing agency to finalize the admit card, exam center locations etc depending on the number of applications.

While the students have been demanding the postponement of the medical entrance exam till October, it is not yet known when the exam will take place. Earlier, a circular was floated It is being claimed that NEET will be held on September 5. However, the circular was bogus and NTA refused to finalize the dates. Last year also the exam was held in September.

Considering NEET 2021 as a one-day exam, NTA will have to make strict arrangements. This year, NTA has increased the number of exam centers for the pending sessions of JEE Main 2021 from 660 to now 828 for 6.80 lakh and 6.09 lakh candidates, who registered for April and May sessions respectively. The number of cities where the examination will be conducted has also increased from 232 to 334. Considering NEET is almost double the number of students (at least 14 lakhs registering for NEET every year), there will be number of exam centres, cities etc. Have to go for NEET also.

Moreover, it is expected that the number of questions in the medical entrance exam will be increased this year to provide internal choice to the students. This was announced by the education ministry led by Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who said, “The syllabus of JEE and NEET will remain unchanged for the year 2021, unlike previous years, this year candidates will have options to answer the questions. JEE and NEET.” This was announced because most of the boards – state and central educational boards – had reduced their syllabus, thus the ministry announced to allow students flexibility as per the board syllabus.
