NDMC zonal chairman election: Delhi BJP expels 2 councilors who voted against party candidate

The Delhi BJP on Saturday expelled two councilors of the party for voting against its candidate in the recently held elections for the post of regional president in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), a party statement said. The party expelled Jyoti Rachoya (Nangloi corporator) and Savita Khatri (Narela corporator) “responsible” for the defeat of the BJP candidate for the post of Narela zone president in the NDMC.

Rachoya was absent in the House in the June 6 election, while Khatri did not vote for the party’s official candidate. He was issued a show cause notice by the party and was asked to reply within 24 hours. It said that his replies to the show cause notice were found to be “unsatisfactory”, following which he was expelled from the party. Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta said that indiscipline will be tolerated within the party. AAP councilor Ram Narayan won the post of president of Narela Zone by defeating his BJP rival by a narrow margin in the election.
