NDMC vice chairman Satish Upadhyay Said that the parks and gardens are already developed in the NDMC area and are popular among morning walkers, with the aim of the project being to make the facilities at par with international standards.
“There are a lot of ideas to enhance services without compromising on greenery in these places, such as musical fountains, smart irrigation through drips and sprinklers, manicured lawns, smart lighting, coffee shops and happiness areas. These facilities all attract people. age group including senior citizens and young children,” Upadhyay said.
He said that some works are already being implemented on a pilot basis in Nehru Park. “We are developing a cycle track around Nehru Park for fitness freaks and also checking whether an amusement park at Children’s Park is viable or not. But all these works require proper planning, that’s why That’s why we have decided to appoint a consultant who can give better suggestions,” he told TOI.
Meanwhile, after receiving an encouraging response to the 2.7 km synthetic rubber track at Nehru Park, a similar track of 2 km will be laid at Sanjay Park as well as all open gyms, officials said.
“The project is part of the budget for the next financial year. The idea is to give a better walking experience to the visitors. Since the track fabric is softer than cement and rocky surfaces, the chances of getting injured after falling on the ground will be less. We have done the same It has been decided to carpet the area in and around all open gyms using cloth,” said an official.
The idea of ​​making the track using the material came up after the NDMC noticed that people lose balance on rocky stretches or get knee injuries while walking in the park.
“To address this issue, we decided to create a small EPDM Track with rubber floor where people can walk easily. After the positive response, it was decided to create a complete patch for comfortable jogging or walking,” said an NDMC official.
