NCB officer gets ‘Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ in Sushant Singh Rajput case

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday awarded the ‘Medal for Excellence in Investigation 2021’ to KPS Malhotra, serving as DCP, CP Secretariat in Delhi, who headed the SIT probe in the infamous Bollywood drugs case.

KPS Malhotra, who has worked in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and was also heading the SIT probing the drugs case related to Sushant Rajput’s death.

In addition, Home Minister Malhotra also awarded medals to six Delhi Police personnel – Inspector Satish Chander Sharma (posthumously), ACP Sandeep Lamba, Women Inspector Dominika Purti, Inspector Amleshwar Kumar Rai, Inspector Gurmeet Singh Kataria and Inspector Virendra Singh. Was honoured.

Samir D Wankhede, Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai, working in the drug case related to Sushant Singh Rajput death case, has also been awarded ‘Medal for Excellence in Investigation’.

Wankhede and his team have been leading the investigation into the drugs racket in Bollywood since September 2020.

The NCB, working under Wankhede and her team, also questioned Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and several other Bollywood A-listers in connection with the case.

The medal was instituted in 2018 with an aim to promote high professional standards of crime investigation and to recognize such “excellence in investigation” by the investigating officers.

Meanwhile, in the latest update related to the drug case, a special NDPS court has refused bail to SSR’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, who was arrested by the NCB from Hyderabad in May this year.
