NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell Ousted over ‘Inappropriate Conduct’

Shell said Sunday would be his last day over what he called an “inappropriate relationship with a woman at the company”.

Comcast announced Sunday that NBCUniversal Chief Executive Jeff Shell is leaving the company following an investigation into improper conduct.

In a brief statement, Shell said Sunday would be his last day after what he called an “inappropriate relationship with a woman at the company”.

“I am truly sorry that I let down my Comcast and NBCUniversal partners, they are some of the most talented people in the business and it has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with them over the past 19 years,” said Shell.

Schell, who had been with the company since 2004, was named CEO of NBCUniversal in January 2020. He oversaw the company’s portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premiere motion picture company, significant television and sports production operations, and a major television station group. , according to the company’s website. He also oversaw the company’s theme parks and a premium advertising-supported streaming service.

Previously, Shell was the president of NBCUniversal Film and Entertainment. In that role, he oversaw content creation as well as the programming and distribution engines behind NBCUniversal’s film and network television businesses, which include NBC Entertainment, Universal Filmed, and Universal Film. Entertainment Group (UFEG), Telemundo and NBC Universal International.

Comcast did not say who would replace Shell.
