Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Irrfan Khan worked together in the film The Lunchbox
During an interview, when Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brother Shamas was asked if there was a rift between Irrfan Khan and Nawaz, he confirmed it.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is in the news for his tussle with his wife Aaliya Siddiqui. Recently, the actor’s brother Shamas talked about him and the equation they share. Shamas also talked about the much publicized feud between late actor Irrfan Khan and Siddiqui. The Siddiqui brothers were once close to each other but now they have drifted apart due to various reasons. During an interview, when Shamas was asked if there was any estrangement between Irrfan and Nawaz, he confirmed it.
He told ETimes that during the making of The Lunchbox there were clashes and Anurag Kashyap had to play the role of a mediator. “Both Nawaz and Irrfan used to say that they would walk on the sets only when the other was present.” He further added, “I think this happens in films when both the actors are of such a tall stature.”
Meanwhile, Shamas also called Nawaz a difficult person and revealed that the latter has asked his family members not to meet the former’s daughter. “Not only did they not listen to him, but they didn’t even call me,” he said. Confirmed this with me, he said he was directed not to greet or even congratulate me. But he helped me when there was a dispute over one of my properties and he bought the disputed property. In between, we lost touch with each other for 7-8 months and met only when we went to our village.”
Describing Nawaz as a person, Shamas said, ‘I don’t think any actor is better than him. He takes care of us but he has not established any brother’s career. He buys properties for us, but his image is not the same. He is a difficult person. He leaves people – Alia and I are two examples.”
