Thane: The bodies of two sisters were found hanging in a mutilated condition in their flat in Navi Mumbai town. Maharashtra, said a police officer.
The incident came to light on Monday when the neighbors of the deceased – Laxmi Panthari (33) and his sister Sneha Panthari (26) – Complained about foul smell emanating from his flat in a housing society in Sector 10 of Airoli and approached the police, he said.
“The police broke the lock of the door of the flat and found the women hanging from the ceiling,” the Rabale police station official said.
Prima facie the police suspect that both the sisters hanged themselves. He said that a case of accidental death has been registered.
The official said the two women, who used to take private tuitions at their home, rarely met with neighbours.
He said that he had lost his father a few years back and his mother had committed suicide.
According to the police, both the women were last seen on Friday.
Police said that further investigation in the matter is on.
