According to the police, all the 29 people arrested were produced in the court. Four people, who were instrumental in procuring the drugs, were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded to nine days’ police custody till July 6. “We are in the process of collecting blood samples of all 29 people to ascertain whether they had consumed drugs or not. If traces of drugs are found in their blood samples, more stringent charges will be framed against them.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the group had purchased more than 5 grams of cocaine and other tobacco products in Mumbai before coming to Igatpuri.
