Prayagraj : Contrary to speculation of Mahant owned properties Narendra Giri‘s Baghambari Gaddi mathematics The (mutt) could have been a possible bone of contention between the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Anand Giri and his disciple Anand Giri, with the police yet to find any evidence that could confirm the theory. However, it is untold that the Math has land worth several crores in different parts of the country.
Sources in the Baghambari Gaddi Math confirmed that the monastery has about 30 acres in Manda tehsil of Prayagraj district, besides 25 acres in Shankargarh. It is said that the land Shankargarh Silica is rich in sand which is used for the manufacture of glass and is therefore much more valuable than ordinary land.
Located in the city’s Allahpur locality, the monastery itself is spread over an area of about 10 acres. There is also Mahant Vicharanand in the monastery. Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, a cowshed and an open ground. The property is worth a fortune. The Math also has a fleet of high end luxury sedans and SUVs. Mahant Narendra Giri had sold 20 bighas of land at Bharadwaj Puram till a few years ago to beautify the monastery.
The death of another top seer of mathematics under mysterious circumstances in the past is speculated to be a possible bone of contention between the guru (Mahant Narendra Giri) and his one-time favorite disciple (Anand Giri). Mahant Vicharanand, who had bought land through donations collected at the Bade Hanuman Mandir, where the Math currently exists, was found dead on a train in 1980 while traveling to Haridwar.
It may be mentioned here that the Baghambari Gaddi Math was initially a part of Sri Panchayati Akhara Niranjani and the money of the Math was used for the maintenance of the famous large Hanuman temple at Sangam. Later, Narendra Giri entered into a court battle, as a result of which mathematics came into existence with an identity separate from the Niranjani Akhara. Later, the Peethadheeshwar and the big Hanuman temple of the Narendra Giri Math were built.
Niranjani Akhara is also quite prosperous in terms of properties, which are spread over different parts of the country. The arena has about 100 bighas of land near Manda in Prayagraj and 400 bighas of land in Mahuari of Mirzapur. This includes 70-bighas of land at Naidi in Mirzapur and 70-bighas of land at Sigda. Akhara also has properties in Haridwar and other parts of the country. There are about a dozen temples and ashrams on the land of Niranjani Akhara in Haridwar alone.
