Gandhi said that PM Modi “in his typical Banarasi style, is narrating the condition of his maternal grandmother to his maternal grandmother”

Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for referring to the youth of Uttar Pradesh as ‘nashedi‘ (intoxicated), Gandhi accused the PM of ‘misleading the youth’.

In a post on X, the Congress leader shared a video of a youth protest demanding a re-examination and wrote, “From Lucknow to Prayagraj, youth are on the streets protesting the police recruitment paper leak. Just 100 km away in Varanasi, the Prime Minister is misleading the youth in the name of the youth.”

Gandhi further commented that PM Modi “in his typical Banarasi style, is narrating the condition of his maternal grandmother to his maternal grandmother.”

Modi ji naani ko nanihaal ka haal suna rahe hai,” the Congres leader wrote.

On Friday, PM Modi who is on a visit to Varanasi expressed displeasure at the Congress leader’s remarks about the youth of Varanasi.

Referring to Gandhi as the ‘prince of the Congress family’, PM Modi stated that “those who are not in hosh themselves are calling the youth nasheri.’

“In last 10 years, they spent their time abusing Modi. But now they are talking out their frustration on the people. Jinke aapne hosh thhikane nahi hai, wo UP ke, mere kashi ke bachcho ko nashedi keh rahe hai (those who are not in their senses are calling UP’s youth addicts),” PM Modi said, strongly condemning Gandhi’s statement.

Gandhi, who is currently undertaking his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ said that during his visit to Varanasi, he witnessed some youths inebriated, lying on the streets, and dancing at night.

“I went to Varanasi and I saw people lying on roads drunk. The youths of Uttar Pradesh are on a trip after consuming liquor by night. On the other hand, there is the Ram Mandir which is only visited by the likes of PM Modi, Ambani, and Adani. You will see all our billionaires there but not a single person from a backward class or the Dalit community,” Rahul said during an address in Amethi.
