Nadda’s Term as BJP Chief Extended Till June 2024; Shah Says Party Will Win Bigger Mandate Than 2019

Shah expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Nadda, the BJP would win a bigger victory than in the last general elections.

BJP president JP Nadda’s tenure was on Tuesday extended till June next year at the party’s national executive meeting, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserting that he will win the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with a bigger mandate than 2019.

The widely expected development underscores the party’s priority for continuity as it gears up for the all-important Lok Sabha elections to be held in April-May next year.

Shah told reporters here that like him, former party president Defense Minister Rajnath Singh moved a proposal to extend Nadda’s tenure till June next year and the executive body unanimously supported it.

The BJP’s parliamentary board has already approved the extension of Nadda’s term as party president.

“On behalf of the party, I convey my heartfelt gratitude to Nadda-ji for his committed leadership and contribution and wish him all the best for his future tenure,” Shah said.

With Nadda set to lead the party during the Lok Sabha elections, he will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Shah, whose term was also extended to allow him to lead the organization during the 2019 elections.

Shah expressed confidence that the BJP is under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Nadda, the party chief, will win a bigger victory than in the last general elections.

Appreciating the leadership of Nadda, the minister said that he linked the party organization to the service of the people during the outbreak of Kovid-19.

“During the pandemic, our party has done many important things under the leadership of Nadda-ji; Be it providing food and ration to the poor or taking people to hospitals for check-up and treatment.”

Shah further said that during the entire leadership of Nadda, the BJP has worked on the principle of ‘service only organization’ from the booth to the national level.

Noting that the party won several state assembly elections under Nadda’s leadership, Shah said the BJP won 73 of the 120 assembly bypolls held during his tenure.

He said that under Nadda’s leadership, the BJP did well in Bihar and again formed governments in Maharashtra and Haryana.

The BJP won assembly elections in Assam, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh during Nadda’s tenure as party president, Shah said, adding that it formed a government on its own for the first time in Goa.

Talking about the victory in the recent Gujarat assembly elections, Shah said, “The BJP organization under the leadership of Nadda converted Modi’s magical leadership into votes and the party registered a record-breaking victory by winning 156 assembly seats.” The consolidation program and ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ are the biggest achievements of Nadda’s leadership.
