Describing it as the rarest of rare case, special POCSO court judge Baburam ordered death sentence for Soni alias Surendra (30) and life imprisonment for another accused of kidnapping a minor.

A court here on Wednesday awarded death sentence to a man for the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in June last year and life imprisonment to another for abducting the minor.

Describing it as the rarest of the rare case, Special POCSO court judge Baburam ordered the hanging of Soni alias Surendra (30).

District public prosecutor Rajeev Sharma and special POCSO lawyer Dinesh Sharma told PTI that Soni alias Surendra and Rajesh came on a motorcycle and abducted the girl on June 12 last year. He said that later that day, Soni raped the girl in Jansath town before killing her.

As per the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the accused took her daughter to the forest where she was later found unconscious. The complaint states that he was taken to the hospital in a critical condition and was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police registered a case against the duo under sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act Was. Charged and arrested them.
