Muslims should bow before ‘Indian culture’; Ram, Krishna, Shiva were their ancestors: UP minister

Uttar Pradesh minister Anand Swaroop Shukla has said that Lord Rama, Krishna and Shiva were the ancestors of Indian Muslims and they should bow to the “land and culture of India”.

In provocative remarks here, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath defeated the mindset that intended to create an Islamic state in the country by raising the flag of Hindutva and “Indian culture”. Presenting an account of the work of the Adityanath government during the last four-and-a-half years, Shukla said before the media on Thursday evening, “The ancestors of the Muslims of India are Lord Ram, Krishna and Shankar (Shiva). They do not need to see the land of the Kaaba. These people should bow before the land and culture of India.”

After Syria and Afghanistan, some people from different countries want to make the world an Islamic State. Some people in India have the same mentality. But, the Modi and Adityanath governments at the Center and in the state raised the flag of Hindutva and “Indian culture” in the country and defeated this mentality, Shukla said.

Referring to the controversial posters put up recently in Sambhal, Shukla said they are a result of Samajwadi Party’s support to Islamic terrorists and its MP Shafoor Rehman Barak’s statement that supports Taliban.

Ahead of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s meeting earlier this week, posters stating Sambhal as a clear reference to Islamic warriors had surfaced.

The posters were taken down by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) workers after the BJP had raised strong objections to the posters.

Shukla said that Ghazis have been completely eliminated from Uttar Pradesh. He said that such powers would not be able to raise their heads in future.

Attacking Owaisi, Shukla said that his ancestors wanted to make Hyderabad a separate nation but could not succeed.

“There are still people with such mentality. These are foolish people. Their ancestors became Muslims out of fear. This kind of thinking cannot flourish under Modi and Adityanath governments,” he said.
