“Music: Universal Language”- 2nd Edition Of The ASEAN-India Music Festival

Music is a language that crosses borders and is one of the best ways to unite different cultures. Keeping this exact idea in mind, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Sahar organized 2Ra ASEAN version India The music festival is celebrating 30 years of ASEAN-India diplomatic relations, to promote cultural exchange and cultural understanding.

The venue- the old fort lit up with lanterns and lights was the perfect place to host such a vibrant celebration of cultures.

ASEAN countries – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – participated in the festivities on 18, 19 and 20 November. The music festival encouraged a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich musical traditions in ASEAN and India, increased people’s awareness of ASEAN identity and offered wider visibility to artists from ASEAN India.

On the 18th, Tri Minh Quartet from Vietnam, Insta Mujika from Malaysia, RizerXSuffer from Cambodia, Empty Wallet from Brunei Darussalam and Papon from India performed. The second day saw performances by Lao Traditional Music Troupe from Lao PDR, Makaohang from Thailand, Faridkot and Amar Jalal from India, Lining Band from Singapore and Jonita Gandhi from India. On the last day of the festival were Bayang Barrios in Ang Naliyagan, Philippines, Riau Rhythm from Indonesia, Raghav Meetal from India, MRTV Modern Music Band from Myanmar and Sukhbir from India.

The three-day festival was carefully curated and was a musical treat for the people of Delhi. The ceremony was attended by Heads of Missions from ASEAN countries and Hon’ble Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi said, “Cultural ties between India and ASEAN have been a strong pillar of India-ASEAN relations. As we look to expand and strengthen our strategic partnership ties When we do, people-to-people ties should be strengthened. Events like music festivals bring people from different cultures together and provide an opportunity to learn something new about the other culture. Music festivals have been designated as ASEAN-India Year of Friendship 2022. To mark the formation and to emphasize India’s Act East policy, the gateway to ASEAN will also take place in Shillong, Meghalaya.
