In October 2019, WR published an advertisement for Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk posts under Sports Quota. Two of these seats were reserved for candidates playing Kabaddi. Two Kabaddi players had applied for the post and their names were added to the waiting list.
In March 2021, one of the players received a letter via speed post. The letter had the logo of WR and it was an appointment letter.
It was mentioned that he will have to appear for the medical test in June 2021. The player traveled from Haryana to Mumbai and met a sports official of the Railways.
The sports officer had entered the player’s name in a register at the railway office on the first floor of Churchgate station in July.
On 14 July, the player went to the DRM office with the appointment letter where he came to know that he had not been recruited.
The signature of an employee of the DRM office was forged on the player’s appointment letter. Thereafter the employee approached the GRP and lodged a complaint.
