Mumbai: Man kills woman, dumps body in sack on railway track; accused arrested

Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly killing a 28-year-old woman, stuffing her body in sacks and then throwing it on the railway track. Before dumping it, the accused carried the dead body in an autorickshaw and then in a local train – from Goregaon to Mahim.

A police officer said the woman’s body was found stuffed in a bag near the railway track in Mahim on Tuesday morning, following which a probe into the murder began.

The woman was identified as Sarika Damodar Driver, a resident of Santosh Nagar near Film City in Goregaon (East) and worked as a domestic help in a residential building where the accused named Vikas Khairnar was a housekeeper. also worked as The police team caught the accused after scanning the CCTV footage of the area. “The suspect was taken into custody and questioned,” a Mumbai Railway Police Station official said on Tuesday.

According to the Indian Express report, the police said that the two have known each other for three years. Sarika’s throat was slit with a knife and the stomach and arm were stabbed.

GRP Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bhajibhakare said in the report, “We contacted the husband of the woman, who told us that she left for her workplace at around 8 am on May 23, but never returned home.”

During investigation, it was found that the deceased had borrowed Rs 3,000 from the accused and was asking him to return the money. Over the issue, the accused murdered her in the toilet on the third floor of the building at around 3 pm on May 23, police was quoted as saying, on suspicion that he was one-sided with the deceased woman.

“Then he stuffed her body in one sack and covered it with two more sacks. Kedar Pawar, senior inspector of Mumbai Central GRP, told The Indian Express that he pulled people out of the tower after telling them that it was garbage he was throwing. He then took the body in an autorickshaw and then in a local train to dump it on the railway track.

The woman is survived by her husband and two children below the age of five years.
