MUMBAI: The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced that 74 city roads will be kept shut on Ganpati immersion days on September 9.
Around 10,600 traffic policemen, home guards, traffic wardens, civil defence personnel, NSS and Road Safety Patrol volunteers will be deployed for managing crowds during immersion.
Various NGOs will also assist the police besides volunteers from water safety patrol.
“From noon on September 9 to 6am on September 10, 74 roads will be kept shut, 54 roads will be made one way, goods vehicles will be banned on 57 roads and parking restrictions will be imposed at 114 places,” said a traffic police officer.
Key roads that will be closed:
* Sandhurst Road will be closed from Marine Drive to its Junction with Opera House and further up to its junction with Prarthana Samaj. The Wadi Bunder bridge shall be closed, West to East.
* JSS Road will be closed from Princess Street to Thakurdwar Junction.
* CP Tank Road will be closed from Madhav Baug to CP Tank Circle.
* Nanubhai Desai Road will be totally closed.
* Pandita Ramabai Marg will be closed from its junction with NA Purandare Marg to Hughes Road.
* Belasis Road will be closed from Nagpada Junction to Mumbai Central Junction.
* Claire Road will be closed from Khada Parsi Junction to Nagpada Junction.
* NM Joshi Marg will be closed from Chinchpokli Junction to Khatao Mill.
* BA Road will be closed from its junction with Bharatmata to Bawla Compound.
* LBS Marg will be closed from North Modela light signal junction to toll naka at Mulund and vehicles from both sides will be diverted to south-bound. LBS Marg will also be closed from Tank Road junction to Shivaji Talao.
* Saki Vihar Road from BA Road to JVLR Road.
* Aarey Road from Aarey Junction to Filterpada in Powai and from Aarey Junction to Marol Naka.
Key roads that will be one-way:
* Mahapalika Marg will be closed for north-bound traffic from CSMT junction to Metro Cinema junction. The north-bound traffic will be diverted through DN Road. The south-bound traffic from Metro Cinema junction to CSMT will be operated one-way on Mahapalika Marg.
* Walkeshwar Road will be closed for traffic proceeding down the hill from Teen Batti to Bandstand, except for BEST buses.
* Tilak Marg will be closed from Dadar TT Junction to Kotwal Garden.
* Veer Savarkar Marg (north bound)- traffic on both routes will be diverted from south bound
* Linking Road south bound will be closed from Santacruz police station junction to Khar subway junction and south bound vehicles diverted from left side on the north bound.
* Marve Road upto Mith Chowki (north bound).
Prohibition on Goods Vehicles on key stretches:

* SK Bole Road

* BA Road from Kohinoor Junction at Dadar to Highway apartments at Sion

* CD Barfiwala Road at Andheri from Mayor Hall to Junaid Nagar
* JP Road Bus depot to Aaram Nagar garden, Versova.
* Lokhandwala Bank Road closed from both sides, Joggers Road from Hotel Love and Latte to Sky Garden building
