Multiple explosions reported in Kabul; Casualties not yet known

Meanwhile, on June 11, earlier this month, several people were injured in an explosion in Batkhak Square in Kabul’s 10th district. Kabul’s security department said that earlier in Kabul’s Police District-4 there was an explosion with explosives tied to a bicycle.

Explosion on May 25 in the capital of Balkh province

On May 25 this year, three explosions occurred in the capital of Balkh province, killing at least nine people and injuring 15 others. Meanwhile, on the same day at least two worshipers were killed in an explosion at the Sharif Hazrat Zakaria Mosque in Kabul city.

Responding to the attacks in Balkh and Kabul, the US Special Envoy for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan, Reina Amiri, said the Taliban should ensure the safety of the people and stop the atrocities. The heinous attacks in Mazar and Kabul serve no purpose but to inflict further devastation on innocent Afghans who have suffered,” Amiri tweeted.

Additionally, earlier, at least 30 people were killed and others injured at the Hazrat Zekariya Mosque in an explosion at a traffic square in Kabul’s Fourth Police District. The Taliban faced a serious security threat from the Khorasan branch of ISIS, which has been active in Afghanistan since 2014.

Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the recent attacks in Afghanistan that claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, including members of the Hazara Shia community, and many children.
