Mukesh Khanna slams Bollywood’s ‘business’ for not promoting Kashmir files

Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is currently ruling the theaters. The film, which released on March 11, is getting an exceptional response from the audience. Many Bollywood celebrities are also coming forward to praise the film. After Kangana Ranaut and Akshay Kumar, actor Mukesh Khanna has now expressed his admiration for the film.

Mukesh Khanna, who is best known for his role as Shaktimaan, was recently caught by the media outside a movie theatre. In a video posted on Instagram by a paparazzi, she can be seen supporting the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Taking a dig at the film industry, Mukesh Khanna said, “Promote the film if these big promoters don’t promote the film, then they do. I don’t know why people in our industry are proving themselves apart from India. (If these big promoters don’t promote the film then promote the film. I don’t know why people in our industry prove themselves different from India.)

Furthermore, Mukesh Khanna opened up about the mentality of people who did not promote the film by saying that if one does not understand the plight of an Indian, then they are not Indian themselves. He urged the public to promote the film the way he is doing. He described the film as an agenda and a missed target which the government also forgot over time.

Earlier on Monday, Kangana Ranaut took a jibe at Bollywood. On her Instagram stories, Kangana said that ‘no one from the industry appreciates or appreciates’ that Kashmir Files is the first successful and profitable Hindi film in theaters after the pandemic. This statement comes a day after Akshay Kumar lauded Anupam Kher and the team of The Kashmir Files for bringing back a large number of audiences to the theatres.

For the unversed, The Kashmir Files is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in 1990 during the peak of militancy. The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Mrunal Kulkarni and others in various roles.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh ​​said that the film has earned Rs 42.2 crore in the first four days of its release in India. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film was earlier scheduled to release on Republic Day this year. However, it was postponed due to the third wave of Kovid-19. The film finally hit theaters on March 11.
