‘MS Dhoni Is Missed…,’ Team India Star Ahead Of Ranchi Test

India is poised to compete in the fourth Test match of the series in Ranchi against England, holding a 2-1 lead and aiming to clinch the series victory at MS Dhoni’s hometown. The spotlight will shine on Indian batsman Shubman Gill, particularly after his impressive performances in the No. 3 position during the last two Test matches.

Attention will also be on MS Dhoni, who is currently preparing for the Indian Premier League 2024. Despite his retirement, Dhoni remains a prominent figure in Indian cricket, often seen in the dressing room when international matches are held at Ranchi’s Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium.

Dhoni’s last appearance in Test cricket for India was in 2014, after which he passed the captaincy to Virat Kohli. Under Kohli’s leadership, with guidance from coach Ravi Shastri, India achieved remarkable success, particularly securing historic Test series victories in Australia.

Gill On MS Dhoni

Acknowledging Dhoni’s immense contributions to Indian cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India retired his jersey No. 7. Ahead of the fourth Test, Shubman Gill expressed how much Dhoni is missed on the field by the entire nation.

“The entire India misses Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). It does not matter where we play, in Ranchi or anywhere in the world,” Shubman Gill said in his pre-match press conference in Ranchi on February 21.

Regarding Gill’s own performance, he broke his poor form in Test cricket with a remarkable century in the Vizag Test. Although he missed out on another century in the second innings of the Rajkot Test due to an unfortunate run-out while batting with Kuldeep Yadav, Gill’s turnaround was evident. Previously struggling since the West Indies tour and facing criticism for conservative play, Gill’s shift to the No. 3 position proved beneficial, highlighted by his century in the second Test in Vizag.
