A 7-year-old boy, who fell into a 60-feet deep borewell in Vidisha district on Tuesday, was rescued after a 24-hour operation.
Officials said that around 11 am on Tuesday, the child slipped into the 60-feet deep borewell and got stuck at a depth of 43 feet. A parallel pit was dug up to a depth of 51 feet and rescue workers are digging a tunnel to connect it to the borewell shaft.
The boy, Lokesh Ahirwar, was playing when he fell into a borewell at Kherkhedi Pathar village in Lateri tehsil of the district. Lateri Sub-Divisional Magistrate Harshal Chowdhary said that after being alerted by the villagers, a rescue team reached the spot and launched an operation to rescue her. Oxygen pipe has been lowered into the borewell.
On Monday, a 5-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district was rescued after an 8-hour operation by the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), but died during treatment. The boy had fallen into a 15-feet deep borewell at Kopardi village in Karjat tehsil. Five teams of NDRF were present at the spot to rescue the boy.
