  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off 5 Vande Bharat train from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal. Later this flight had to make an emergency landing in Amritsar.

2. Tomato prices increased 20 times in a month; The price was Rs 5 per kg in May, now it has crossed Rs 100.
In most of the markets of the country, the price of tomato has crossed Rs 100 per kg. A month back, tomatoes were being sold at Rs 2-5 per kg in many states including UP, Maharashtra. That is, the prices have increased 20 times in a month. Tomatoes are being sold in Delhi for Rs 70 to 100 per kg. 80 to 100 rupees in MP while 80 to 100 rupees in Uttar Pradesh and 90 to 110 rupees in Rajasthan.

Why this news is important: Tomato crop has been damaged in many states due to rain and heat. In many places, the sowing of tomato this year is less as compared to last year. India is the second largest tomato producing country in the world after China. 75% of the country’s tomatoes are grown in 7 states of the country. Of these, Andhra Pradesh alone produces 17% of tomatoes. After this comes the number of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Gujarat and West Bengal.

The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court refused to allow a 15-year-old girl to have an abortion. The minor was raped and she is 28 weeks pregnant. The High Court said that to end the pregnancy, forced delivery would have to be done. In this case the child will be born alive. In this the life of the girl is also in danger. That’s why natural delivery should be done. Then the girl can keep the child with her or give it to an orphanage.

Why this news is important: Under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act 1971, abortion is allowed under special circumstances. After the amendment made in 2021, the scope of permission for abortion was increased from 20 weeks of pregnancy to 24 weeks. But these rules do not give a woman the freedom to have an abortion of her own free will. For this the opinion of two gynecologists is necessary.

A doctor from Rajasthan has performed more than 100 operations despite being on a wheelchair. Dr. Jagveer Singh of Bharatpur had an accident in November 2021 during a cycling tournament. He remained in the ICU for 25 days due to being paralyzed below the waist.
