- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off 5 Vande Bharat train from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal. 1. Heavy rain alert in 25 states; Kedarnath Yatra stopped; Landslide in Himachal’s Mandi
Landslides occurred twice on the Chandigarh-Manali highway within 24 hours. Because of this the highway remained closed for about 20 hours.
Today there is an alert of heavy rain in 25 states including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Badrinath Highway in Uttarakhand washed away due to heavy rains. Along with this, the administration has stopped the Kedarnath Yatra. Indigo flight flying from Srinagar to Jammu reached Pakistan border twice due to bad weather. Later this flight had to make an emergency landing in Amritsar.
Why this news is important: Rains across the country have claimed 22 lives in 6 states. The Meteorological Department says that the monsoon has so far reached 80 percent of the country.
2. Tomato prices increased 20 times in a month; The price was Rs 5 per kg in May, now it has crossed Rs 100.
In most of the markets of the country, the price of tomato has crossed Rs 100 per kg. A month back, tomatoes were being sold at Rs 2-5 per kg in many states including UP, Maharashtra. That is, the prices have increased 20 times in a month. Tomatoes are being sold in Delhi for Rs 70 to 100 per kg. 80 to 100 rupees in MP while 80 to 100 rupees in Uttar Pradesh and 90 to 110 rupees in Rajasthan.
Why this news is important: Tomato crop has been damaged in many states due to rain and heat. In many places, the sowing of tomato this year is less as compared to last year. India is the second largest tomato producing country in the world after China. 75% of the country’s tomatoes are grown in 7 states of the country. Of these, Andhra Pradesh alone produces 17% of tomatoes. After this comes the number of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Gujarat and West Bengal.

Rajnath Singh attended the Security Conclave at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of University of Jammu.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that India can kill on this side of the border as well as on the other side if needed. Our jawans have eliminated terrorists across the border as well. 4. Abortion is not allowed to a minor; Bombay HC said- If you want, give the child to the orphanage
The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court refused to allow a 15-year-old girl to have an abortion. The minor was raped and she is 28 weeks pregnant. The High Court said that to end the pregnancy, forced delivery would have to be done. In this case the child will be born alive. In this the life of the girl is also in danger. That’s why natural delivery should be done. Then the girl can keep the child with her or give it to an orphanage.
Why this news is important: Under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act 1971, abortion is allowed under special circumstances. After the amendment made in 2021, the scope of permission for abortion was increased from 20 weeks of pregnancy to 24 weeks. But these rules do not give a woman the freedom to have an abortion of her own free will. For this the opinion of two gynecologists is necessary.

5. Many officers of Pakistan Army were dismissed; Accused of helping Imran supporters in violence
On May 9, former PM Imran Khan was arrested in the Rs 60 billion Al Qadir University Trust scam. In the violence that followed, 11 people were killed, 283 were injured.
Pakistani army has dismissed 3 officers including a lieutenant general rank officer. They will be court martialled. Apart from these, action has been taken against 10 more officers. It is alleged that after the arrest of Imran Khan on May 9, he had failed to stop the attacks on military bases.
