Kaiserstays Monarch Manor in Manali is an exquisitely restored architectural masterpiece located in a quiet area of the city. It has four family rooms known as the Royal Chambers, a luxurious master suite called the King Suite, and an eye-catching Glass Suite for a romantic getaway.
Originally bought in 2006 by Mr. Dayal, husband of Manju Dayal and father of Dipansh Dayal, the Dayal family decided to convert their beloved abode into a unique homestay during the Covid lockdown. He renovated the property with great care and attention to detail, resulting in the stunning retreat it is today.
When asked about their experience of working together, Dipansh Dayal described it as collaborating with a friend and business partner. He explains that they support each other like friends, but also have healthy disagreements when necessary like business partners. Working with his mother has been a fun and enlightening experience, allowing them to better understand each other’s work style, thoughts, ideas and vision.
Sharing her son’s perspective, Manju Dayal said that working together doesn’t feel like work at all. Mother and son work together as friends and there is no generation gap between them. They constantly learn from each other and being up-to-date with everything makes her proud.

Assange, Murbad
Asanja is a unique earth-sheltered house in the pastoral landscape of Murbad, which offers spectacular views of Machindragarh and Gorakhgarh. The owner of the house, Mrs. Sanjam Lalwani, had long dreamed of a home in nature overlooking the hills, which she realized with the help of a skilled organic architect. Inspired by the works of renowned Mexican architect Javier Senosian, they collaborated on the creation of a property that blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.
SaffronStays AsanjA Dragonfly and SaffronStays AsanjA Titaly are two earth-sheltered homes with three and two bedrooms respectively, with spacious and bright rooms, natural light coming in through arched windows and skylights, rooftop gardens and pools. Mrs. Lalwani’s daughter, Sanskar Lalwani, plays an active role in the management of the estate and contributes to her parents’ efforts. Working with their parents has been a great learning experience for them, and they try to balance their responsibilities while learning from each other.
Mrs Lalwani takes care of the decor, maintenance, guest experience and administration, while Sanskar handles marketing and promotions. They operate in separate areas, but their movements are symbiotic, and they have a commonality that allows them to work effectively together. Sanskar’s inputs and mature advice have come as a surprise to Mrs. Lalwani, who considers him an undiscovered gem.
Assange is Mrs. Lalwani’s dream project, and the name consists of 4 syllables in her own name, which is intentional. This is a special project for him as he built it from scratch, starting with six to seven years of land exploration to match his vision. It took three to four years to build the first part of the house and another few years to build the next part. Assange is Mrs. Lalwani’s legacy to her daughter, who greatly appreciates it and promises to keep it that way for all times to come in her lifetime.
