The great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai was born on this day in 1865 in the Ferozepur district of Punjab. After starting a career in advocacy, he joined the freedom struggle. On 3 February 1928, the Simon Commission came to India to reform the laws in India. Due to the absence of any Indian in the commission, protests started across the country. On 30 October 1928, Lala Lajpat Rai was badly injured in a police lathi charge during a protest. Due to this injury, he died on 17 November 1928. (Read other incidents that happened today)
