New Delhi: On the first day of COVID-19 vaccination for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years, more than 40 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 8.30 pm on Monday, according to the CoWIN portal.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya termed the achievement as yet another “over the top” in India’s ongoing nationwide immunization drive, in which the country had earlier crossed the milestone of delivering more than 100 crore vaccine doses, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said. tweeted, “Well done young India! Millions of people aged 15-18 received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 8 PM on the first day of the immunization campaign of over 40 children. Another achievement.”
It is noteworthy that the vaccination registration for children of this age group started from January 1 while the campaign started from January 3. The vaccination is being done in consultation with hospitals, health centers and schools.
Earlier in the day, the Union Health Minister released a . Visited COVID-19 vaccination site Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for Children and interacted with some of the beneficiaries. During their conversation, Mandaviya asked him to motivate his friends to get vaccinated.

“Initially because of the Omicron fear, fewer children came for vaccination, but later when they did not see any risk, they came forward,” he said.
Dr Bhati said that he charged Rs 1,200 for a single dose of Covaxin. “Most of the beneficiaries said that they do not feel anything even after vaccination. They are excited and feel safe after vaccination,” he remarked.
Dr Samir Kulkarni, Regional Director, Paras Healthcare, said, “Since schools and colleges opened earlier this year, several outbreaks have been reported in residential schools and college hostels. As a result, it is important that we We should do everything we can to make sure our children are healthy and safe.”
“The vaccine campaign for children in the age group of 15-18 is certainly a welcome step by the government. We believe that vaccines are safe. The risk of contracting COVID-19 is any minor that occurs as a result of vaccination. Adverse effects are far more numerous. Dr. Anjali said, “We have made all the arrangements like social distancing, vaccination facilities. We are distributing tokens to avoid crowd and immunizing them on token basis.
