Maharashtra is seeing a spurt in cases
Maharashtra on Sunday witnessed a fresh surge of 9,000 COVID-19 cases, while fresh recoveries declined to 5,756 as the number of active cases rose again to 1,03,486.
With 167 deaths, the cumulative toll rose to 1,27,031 and the case fatality rate stood at 2.04%. The total cases have reached 62,14,190, while the cumulative recovery has increased to 59,80,350, while the recovery rate has fallen to 96.24%.
High number of cases a big concern: Kerala CM
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Kerala recorded 16,148 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, the highest in a month. “The high volume of cases is a major concern and it emphasized the need for more vigilance and monitoring,” Vijayan said during a press meeting.
In the last 24 hours, 38,079 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country and the state contributed about 40 per cent of the total national caseload. The state’s test positivity stood at 10.76 per cent while below the national average of 3 per cent. The state’s weekly average was above 14,000 cases with a 10 per cent TPR.
