More than 16.42 crore Kovid vaccine doses available with States, UTs: Government

Of the total 1.3 billion doses administered in India, about 90% is the Covshield Vaccine (PTI).

As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free vaccines.

The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that more than 16.42 crore COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories. It said that more than 141.80 crore vaccine doses have been provided to them so far through the Government of India (free channel) and the direct state procurement category. The Central Government is committed to accelerate the pace of COVID-19 vaccination and expand its scope across the country.

The immunization drive has been intensified to ensure availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and union territories and streamline the vaccine supply chain, the ministry said.

As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID-19 vaccines. In the new phase of universalization of the COVID vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and union territories. Ministry said.
