Mood swings may indicate prolonged covid syndrome

There are health conditions affecting people long after they have recovered from an infection caused by the COVID or COVID-19 virus. However, even after recovery, the symptoms continue to affect their daily lives. Not being able to do regular activities can have a serious impact on your mood.

Various studies have proved that in the long run, covid can have a serious impact not only on your physical health but also on mental health. Many people noticed that their mood is getting affected after recovering from the infection and they are finding it difficult to go back to their work or lead a social life as before.

A recent study with the help of electronic health records (EHR) found that within 3 months of recovery from infection, survivors are more likely to experience low mood and an increased risk of depression.

In a large EHR study, experts have also noted various changes in mood, which produce symptoms of chronic COVID conditions.

Signs and symptoms of low mood:

· Anger

· the sadness

Depression and anxiety disorders

Frequent nervousness

worry too much

· Disappointment

· low self-esteem

· fatigue

The level of mood swings can be different for everyone. This usually goes away in a few days, but many people feel the problem for a few weeks as well. However, if the feeling does not improve after weeks or so, it could be a sign of depression.

So, to deal with this issue and take control of your emotional and mental state, you need to make some changes in your lifestyle and get extra support from your family, friends or even colleagues at work.

Simple lifestyle changes such as a balanced diet, limiting alcohol intake, the desire to quit or control smoking, getting enough sleep and daily physical exercise will go a long way in helping you through your recovery period.

And, if you are experiencing depression frequently and have difficulty getting back on track, you should visit your doctor.
