Monthly Shivratri 2021: Auspicious time, worship method, mantra and importance in November

Shivratri is the holy festival of convergence of Shiva and Shakti. It is celebrated on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi Tithi of every month. However, the most important Shivaratri is the one that falls during the month of Magha which is known as Maha Shivratri. Shivaratri literally means the night of Shiva and hence, the day is dedicated to the Supreme Lord of the universe.

Monthly Shivratri in November is falling on 3rd November and the day will be Wednesday. Devotees observe a one-day fast to please Lord Shiva and seek his blessings.

Monthly Shivratri Date and Date in November 2021:

Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi Tithi of Kartik month will be celebrated on 3rd November. Chaturdashi Tithi will start on 03rd November at 09:02 am and will continue till 06:03 am on 04th November. The auspicious time to worship Lord Shiva will fall. Between 11:39 PM, Nov 3 to 12:31 AM, Nov 4.

Monthly Shivratri Vrat Method:

Devotees start their day with a morning bath and perform Panchamrit Abhishek to the Shivling. Devotees offer Gangajal, milk, curd, ghee, honey, vermilion, turmeric powder, rose water and belpatra on the Shivling.

Devotees observe fast throughout the day and chant ‘O Namah Shivaya’. The main Shiva Puja is conducted during Nishita Kaal i.e. midnight and fruits are offered as bhog to Lord Shiva. The fast is broken by eating prasad on the next day of Shivratri.

SIGNIFICANCE OF MASIK SHIVARATRI:

Monthly Shivaratri is quite significant for Hindus as it is believed that devotees are blessed with divine power to deal with the two natural forces “Tamas Guna” and “Rajas Guna” that hinder a person’s success. It is also said that the observance of the Mashik Shivaratri fast is equal to or even more auspicious than the conduct of the vigorous Ashwamedha Yagya.
