Monsoon Update.. Haryana receives 18% more rain than average: 6 districts have doubled rainfall, Nuh has 54% more clouds than average and Panchkula 54% less; 3 days more rain alert

In Haryana, despite the monsoon break in mid-August, Haryana has received above average rainfall in the region after Delhi. The entire state has received 473 mm of rain so far this season. This is 18% higher than the normal 402 MM. On the other hand, Himachal, Punjab, Chandigarh and Jammu still received below average rainfall. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for three more days of heavy rain in Haryana. There are 6 districts of the state where rainfall is twice the average and 6 districts received less than average rainfall. So far, Jhajjar, Sonipat and Nuh districts have recorded the highest rainfall. The lowest rainfall was recorded in Sirsa, Bhiwani and Panchkula.

Delhi at number one, Jammu’s worst
In the northern region, this time the monsoon was the most kind over Haryana and Delhi. While Delhi received the highest average rainfall, Haryana has so far remained second in the rain in the northern states. Delhi recorded the highest rainfall of 26% above normal. 677MM of rain has been received here against the normal rainfall of 535MM. After this, Haryana received 18% more rainfall than normal. Uttarakhand has received 1039 mm of rain, 4% less than the average of 1078 mm.

Punjab has so far received 349 mm of rain, 18 percent less than the normal 428 mm. Himachal received 579 mm of rain, which is 17% less than the normal 700 mm. The worst situation in the region is of Jammu. Jammu received 358 mm of rain so far, which is 30% less than the average of 510 mm. The condition of Jammu is worse than Rajasthan. Rajasthan has so far recorded 379 mm of rain, 3% less than the average of 390 mm.

Snowfall begins in Himachal
Snowfall has started in Himachal Pradesh. All the high peaks of the tribal district Lahaul Spiti received light snowfall on Saturday. Snowfall occurred on all other high passes including Baralacha Tangalangala Pass on Manali-Leh road. At present, vehicular movement is continuing on the Manali-Leh road. But due to increasing snowfall, movement on this route becomes risky. Rain continues in Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, Kangra in the state. A warning has been issued in many districts regarding rain.

Paddy benefits, cotton suffers
Paddy area has benefited due to continuous rain. The fear of damage has increased due to the rain in the cotton belt. The cotton plants have started wilting due to continuous humid weather and no sunlight for three days. The cotton twigs have also started getting spoiled. Due to the rain accompanied by strong wind, cotton crops were scattered in many places in the fields.

Weather will change till September 14
Dr. Madan Mud, Chairman, Meteorological Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, said that the monsoon turf line is still active. Due to this the weather will keep changing till September 14. Hence, light to moderate rain is expected. Day and night temperatures may drop.
