The monsoon session of Parliament began on July 19 and will end on August 13. Due to the uproar, the business of the House has been continuously disrupted till now.

Today is the last day of the third week of the monsoon session of Parliament. Like the first and second week, this week too has been a tumultuous one so far. The opposition is attacking the central government over the Pegasus espionage scandal and the new agricultural law. On Friday also, opposition leaders in Parliament can raise slogans in the House on these matters.

On Thursday, the Compulsory Defense Services Bill, 2021 got Parliament’s nod. There is a provision to maintain essential defense services for the security of the country, to safeguard public life and property. The bill was approved by voice vote in the Rajya Sabha amid uproar by the opposition. It was passed in the Lok Sabha only on 3 August.

Outside Gate No. 4 in Parliament House, two National Conference MPs demonstrated with a black band on their hands on the issue of Article 370. Hasnain Masoodi and Mohammad Akbar Lone said that whatever happened there was against the promise given to us. Get back what was taken away. If the previous conditions are brought there, then only peace can be brought there.

In the last two weeks, only 18 hours of work was done in Parliament
The monsoon session of Parliament began on 19 July. In the first and second week together, both the houses could function for only 18 hours, which should have been 107 hours. The Lok Sabha worked for 7 hours and the Rajya Sabha for 11 hours. Taxpayers have suffered a loss of more than Rs 133 crore due to non-functioning.
