Hubballi: With the threat of a third wave of Covid-19 in great danger, the North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation Hubli The division has banned spitting in its bus terminals.

“We have formed a vigilance team and other teams which include security officers, guards and inspectors. The teams will visit all our bus terminals in the twin cities and punish people on the spot for violating the ban on spitting.
“A third wave of the pandemic is possible, and we do not want to risk the lives of those who use our transport system. We saw that many people like gutka, tobacco, Akhil Masala, and indiscriminate salivation in bus terminals. This habit is not only spoiling the newly constructed and painted terminals but also creating fear of spreading the virus.
70 people found violating the ban were fined
“Despite putting up warning boards in the terminals, many people kept spitting indiscriminately. After this we decided to strictly implement the rule by imposing fines. We have arranged spitting bins at strategic points where people can spit. Depot managers have been given the responsibility of ensuring cleanliness in their respective bus terminals and preventing people from spitting. We are also imposing fines on smokers in terminals.
“In the last one week, we have fined 70 people who violated the ban and imposed a fine of Rs 8,500,” Vishwagya said.
