Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar introduced the OBC Bill in the Lok Sabha yesterday.

Amendment Bill related to Other Backward Classes (OBC) may be passed in Lok Sabha today. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar introduced this bill yesterday. Its name is the Constitution (127th Amendment) Bill-2021. Under this, the governments of the state and union territories will be able to make a list of socially, educationally backward classes (SEBC). This power of the states was over after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Maratha reservation case.

On Monday, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, “We want to get this bill related to the welfare of Other Backward Classes passed.” We understand the responsibility of the opposition. On this, Minister Virendra Kumar said that the Chief Ministers of the states ruled by opposition parties were also demanding to bring this bill. On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge also said that the opposition will support this bill.

Bill passed in Lok Sabha amid uproar over espionage case
On Monday, the opposition parties, including the Congress and Trinamool, created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha over espionage and other issues. Due to this the proceedings of the house were adjourned. Amid the uproar, the Lok Sabha passed the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

BJP issues whip to MPs
Many important bills can be passed in Parliament today and tomorrow. Amid the commotion in the House, the BJP has issued a whip asking all its MPs to be present in both the Houses and other meetings on August 10 and 11.
