Monsoon entry in Gujarat: Heavy rain in many places in South Gujarat-Saurashtra, 3 in Santrampur, 2 in Kadana and quarter inch of rain in Surat

The highest rainfall of 75 mm was recorded in Mahisagar district.

One end of monsoon, which has been stuck in Karnataka for 11 days, has reached Gujarat. Especially in Saurashtra and South Gujarat, its effect has started showing. Light to heavy rain occurred in many areas. It started raining since Saturday midnight. There was heavy rain in Surat after 2 pm. Rajkot also recorded half an inch of rain. This made the weather pleasant. There was a drop in temperature of up to 5 degrees.

Death of five animals including a woman
In the state, one woman died due to lightning in Zikiyari of Morbi, Seem Amli in Sagbara of Narmada and Gothibara village of Santrampur. At the same time, in Sundari Bhavani of Halvad, a woman died when the mud wall of the house collapsed due to rain. In Malekpur’s Khundi village, two animals tied under a tree died after being struck by lightning. Two buffaloes also died due to lightning in Runwad village of Chhotaudepur taluka. A cow died due to lightning in Bod village.

It rained with strong winds in Surat after 10 pm.

Maximum rain in Mahisagar district
It has rained in 91 talukas in the last 24 hours. Santrampur taluka of Mahisagar district has the highest 75 mm in 24 hours. Normal rainfall occurred in Ahmedabad, Kheda, Bharuch and Bavla this morning. Yesterday, Umargam in Valsad received 22 mm, Kaprada 31 mm, Dharampur 25 mm, Vadodara’s Santrampur 81 mm, Kadana 50 mm, Jhalod 30 mm. Thunderstorms also occurred in Jamjodhpur, Khambhaliya and Lalpur.

Till June 12 last year, the city had received 58 mm of rain and the district 43 mm.

Night storm in Palanpur
Wadali in Sabarkantha received a maximum of 40 mm (1.5 inches) and Vijayanagar 1 inch after light rain overnight, while Talod taluka remained dry throughout the day on Sunday. At the same time, the weather turned cold due to heavy rains in some areas of Mehsana, Patan and Banaskantha. Thunderstorm broke out in Palanpur on Sunday midnight and after that there was intermittent rain and thundershowers for about one and a half hours.

Trees fell, Limbayat-Udhna, water filled in Varachha area
The roads in Limbayat, Udhna, Varachha areas were flooded since the first rain in the city. Due to the lack of proper cleaning of the rain line, there were reports of water logging at many places. Pedestrians were upset due to water logging on the road. Trees had also fallen in many places.
