VVS Laxman praised the youth fiercely India bowler Mohammad Siraj and called him one of the best in the world at the moment. Since his debut in Australia last year, Siraj has impressed many with his red-ball bowling, he did extremely well in his first series followed by a successful tour of England and now he has played against New Zealand at home. Demonstrated his talent under the circumstances. During the second Test, Siraj was the only fast bowler to take any wicket from either side. He took three wickets in the first innings as India restricted New Zealand to just 62.
The former India cricketer lauded Siraj’s energy and intensity on the field and said that he is confident about his craft.
“They had a great plan to bowl on shorter pitches and get the crucial wicket of captain Latham. I enjoy his energy and intensity…the way he runs towards the crease and it’s nice to see him showing so much confidence in his craft,” Laxman said on Star Sports.

The legendary India batsman further spoke about Siraj’s performance on the tour of Australia and England which impressed many.
“He is growing and progressing really well as a Test match bowler. We have seen how Bumrah, Shami and Ishant performed when they were not in Australia. To go and back it up with an impressive performance against a good batting line-up in England,” said Laxman.
The 27-year-old pacer was the strike bowler for stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane during Australia in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Sharma and Mohammed Shami. On the England tour, Siraj again shone despite the presence of senior bowlers.

Siraj has so far taken 33 wickets in 10 matches he has played in Test cricket, which has put a lot of pressure on other senior bowlers, especially Ishant Sharma.
“The way he bowled on the surface – that helped his style of bowling, and then the lengths he bowled, and the way he bowled consistently along the seam. He is a big asset to this Indian team. Make no mistake… he is one of the best players in the world right now.”
