Mohammad Azharuddin part of BCCI working group for domestic cricket

In the latest development, Mohammad Azharuddin, Rohan Jaitley, Avishek Dalmiya and Jaydev Shah will be part of a working group set up by the BCCI to look at domestic cricket. Other members include Yudhveer Singh (Central Zone), Devjit Saikia (Northeast Zone), Santosh Menon (South Zone), according to a Sportstar report. He will work in collaboration with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Rajeev Shukla, Jay Shah and Arun Dhumal.

It was decided by the Apex Council on June 20 that the 10-member committee would look into the matter of compensation package for the season as well as other aspects. In a letter to the state units, Jay Shah wrote, “I look forward to your continued support as the BCCI moves towards the resumption of domestic cricket.”

The group consists of heads of several state units. Azharuddin heads the Hyderabad Cricket Association, Jaitley is the president of the DDCA, Shah heads the Saurashtra Cricket Association, while Dalmiya heads the Bengal Cricket Association. Lastly, Santosh Menon of Karnataka State Cricket Association heads the unit.

“With several experienced administrators on the panel, we look forward to handling the issues and finding solutions,” a BCCI official said.

After a short domestic season last year due to the pandemic, the BCCI is looking to hold a full season. Earlier, Sourav Ganguly told Sportstar, ‘We will make bio bubbles. We created bubbles last time for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. We have to do the same. Without the bubble, this season also there cannot be cricket.
